These are the two most popular food items to cook over an open fire. The result is smoky and delicious flavored hot dogs and marshmallows. If you only have a gas or propane fire, can you roast these foods over it as well?

To do this, keep the media (which is often lava rock or glass) and burner free of unwanted material such as drippings, dirt, debris and so on. The great thing about roasting hot dogs or marshmallows over a fire is that you can cook them as much as you’d like. You can cook it just to where it is cooked thoroughly or even burn it if you want.

In order to roast hot dogs over a gas or propane fire, you first need a stick. Roasting sticks are available at many stores or you can bend a metal hanger to do the job. Place the hot dogs on the end of the stick and make sure it won’t fall off into the fire. 

Then sit close to the fire and hold it over the flame until the hot dog is  browned. If you like yours a little more crispy, roast the hot dog for a little longer until it reaches the desired doneness. And there you go! That is how you roast hot dogs over a gas/propane fire. 

Now, you can put the hotdog in a bun and top with condiments for a yummy meal. So, yes, you can roast hot dogs over a gas or propane fire and it is easy to do.

Can You Roast Marshmallows Over A Gas/Propane Fire?

What describes a relaxing evening at home during the summer? If you said roasting marshmallows over fire, you’re not alone. Many enjoy this fun and delicious activity. And after roasting these squares of sugar, you can place them between two graham crackers with a Hershey bar for some delightful S’mores. 

But, when roasting marshmallows, can you roast them over a gas/propane fire?

You can roast marshmallows over a gas/propane fire. This is easy and fun to do. It can also be a relaxing time enjoying some S’mores. As long as you keep the fire debris and smoke free you can safely roast marshmallows over a gas or propane fire.

To roast marshmallows you will once again need a roasting stick. Just poke the marshmallow into the end of the stick and then hold it out over the flame. Turn it around and around until it becomes a nice, toasty brown. 

If you want it toasted even more, you can leave it over the fire for longer. Now, it’s easy to make a S’more. Just grab a graham cracker and split it in two. Place a couple squares of a Hershey’s chocolate bar on one graham cracker. Then place the roasted marshmallow on top and press the other graham cracker on top to make a sandwich.
