One of the best fast-food restaurants is Chick-fil-A. With their fresh ingredients and real chicken, they offer their customers good food and friendly service.
When you visit one of their stores you will be greeted with a warm hello. On their menu you can choose from chicken sandwiches, chicken nuggets, salads, and soups. They also make an amazing side of waffle fries, or mac and cheese.
And let’s not forget about their homemade lemonade that is the perfect blend of sweet and sour.
Upon getting your meal you will notice some sauce placed in the bag. This Chick-fil-A sauce pairs well with the fries or even the chicken sandwich. and for many people the best part of Chick-fil-A is dipping the sandwich, nuggets, or waffle fries in the delicious sauce
Although Chick-fil-A sauce isn’t very healthy, it sure is delicious with their food!
Many people even get a few extra containers from the team members to add to their dishes at home to get that original taste from the Chick-fil-A sauce on their home made chicken nuggets. Others might even mix different dipping sauces to make their own unique flavor.
However, after that sauce has been in the fridge or pantry for a while (if it makes it that long) you might begin to wonder if it will last forever or will it go bad?
Maybe you found a bottle of Chick-fil-A sauce at one of many retail stores that sell it and wondered how long they would last as well.
So how long does Chick-fil-A’s dipping sauce actually last?
Chick-fil-A bottled sauce will last approximately 90 days before the “best by date” passes. Individual packets of this sauce will last 7-14 days when it is the “best quality”. However, you can still use it long after that time has passed and it won’t hurt you.
All bottles of Chick-fil-A sauces or salad dressings have a limited shelf life but there is no exact expiration date on any of them. Just the labeled date (which tells when it is best by but not when it actually goes bad).
The “best by date” is simply the date when the sauce packets (or bottles) will have their best flavor and texture but that doesn’t mean they will go bad after that time.
Technically, Chick-fil-A’s dipping sauces don’t have an expiry date only a “best by date” so as long as the sauce doesn’t have a very strange taste or texture then it will be fine to use even if the “best by date” has passed.
Chick-fil-A sauce bottles and packets of various condiments will last a long time with many people even reporting using them many months after originally getting them. Again, the “best by date” just tells you when the product will taste its best by not when it will actually expire and become bad.
If your dipping sauce has signs of spoilage or you are having symptoms of food poisoning after eating that sauce then it’s a good idea to throw it out. However, as long as it looks good, the texture doesn’t seem to be “off”, or it doesn’t have a “tangy’ flavor (that it isn’t supossed to have) then there is a good chance that it is just fine to eat.
The best way to tell if your Chick-fil-A sauce has gone by is by using your own senses. If it looks, smells, or tastes different than normal then you should throw it out. If it looks, smells, and tastes the same as normal and still has all the same great flavors then you should be fine eating it (even if the “best by” date has passed).
The above information is true for all of the sauce bottles and individual packets of Chick-fil-A sauces including their:
- Polynesian Sauce
- Barbeque Sauce
- Original Chick fil A Sauce
- Garden Herb Ranch Sauce
- Honey Mustard Sauce
- Sweet & Spicy Sriracha Sauce
- Zesty Buffalo Sauce
- Honey Roasted BBQ Sauce
The original Chick-fil-A sauce is a dipping sauce with honey mustard and a smoky tangy taste. It was actually invented when a Chick-fil-A team member accidentally mixed barbeque sauce and their signature honey mustard sauce together.
This created what many of their customers love, their Chick-fil-A sauce. Ever since then this sauce has been incredibly popular.
But the company is always prepared with plenty of their signature sauce to hand out to all of their guests. If you love the sauce as much as I think you will, ask for extra and save it at home for when you want to add a bit of zing to well, anything!
Chick-fil A sauce can go bad because it contains fats, sodium, and cholesterol which over time break down if they are not stored correctly. This will make the sauce taste bad and have a weird texture.
So, Chick-fil-A sauce normally says it is best before 90 days but doesn’t have an exact expiration date. This is because there are several things that affect the lifespan of all of their yummy sauces such as:
- Storage (at room temperature or refrigerated)
- Open or Closed (a closed bottle/package will last longer)
- How long it was on the shelf
- etc.
All of these (and many other) factors will affect how long your sauces or salad dressings will last before being bad enough to affect the taste or texture or to go “bad”.
There is a way to easily tell whether the sauce has gone bad or not, and that is by looking at texture of the sauce. If it is thick and goopy or has odd coloring to it then it has likely gone bad. As long as it looks good then the next thing to check is the flavor.
As long as both of those are good then the sauce is likely fine to eat even if the “best by date” has passed.
Chick-fil-A team leaders constantly restock their sauces so you won’t have to worry about getting expired sauces at their fast food restaurants.
But if you take some home with you hoping to consume it in the future, there are some things you should look for to see if the sauce has gone bad.
If the sauce smells funny, toss it. If it looks a thicker consistency than normal, toss it. You don’t want to be eating expired sauce which could potentially make you sick.
When you arrive at home with your Chick-fil-A sauce, put it in the fridge to keep it good for a few months. And if you don’t want to store it in the refrigerator, no worries. You can leave it out on your counter if you so wish.
Once it gets past that 90 day mark, check for these signs if the sauce has gone bad and if so throw it away. This will give you a chance to return to your favorite fast food restaurant to get some more.
