- Pure Vegetable Oil: Vegetable oil is a great option if you own your own deep fryer. Typically, the chicken will cook at 375ºF and the smoke point for vegetable oil is 450ºF. You most likely will not even reach the smoke point when using vegetable oil which means that your chicken will be golden and moist instead of brown and dry. Vegetable oil also doesn’t have much of a flavor which is great if you weren’t wanting anything with extra flavor.
- Peanut Oil: Peanut oil also has a high smoke point which means it won’t overcook the chicken. Peanut oil does have a bit of a nutty taste to it, but the taste is very mild and hardly even noticeable.
- Sunflower Oil: The smoke point for sunflower oil is typically between 475ºF to 520ºF. The higher the smoke point, the better tasting the fried chicken. Another benefit to using sunflower oil is that there isn’t much of a taste to it either.
